The Masonic Hall, Kidsgrove was completed and first occupied in 1923 for the main purpose of Freemasonry. Of course Masonic traditions are still practiced here today, but it also boasts a social club which welcomes membership from non-Masons. Members can enjoy relaxing in the comfortable lounge bar which serves "real ale" along with other beers, lager, wines and spirits.
There is also a snooker room with a full size table.
The function room is a multi-purpose hall which is used as a dining room, ballroom and disco for social occasions and hosts the "Quiz Night" every Thursday.
Social Occasions
Burns Night supper- January - when the Haggis is piped in, addressed then carved and served with whisky sauce, just for starters. A formal meal then follows and after that, entertainment kicks in until "late". Organised by the Institute for members and guests.
Clough Hall and St. Thomas's Lodge Ladies Nights - March/April - Organised by the Lodges for Freemasons, their good ladies and guests. A formal evening when gentlemen wear dinner suits and gifts are presented to the ladies. A five or even six course dinner precedes the entertainment, again until "late".
Many other parties or events are held, as and when the need, or feel occurs. In 2007, a Halloween party and "Hollywood" evening were held.
Of course, a New Years Eve party finishes off the calendar year in style and starts the new one even better.
